The Chinese Embassy recently held an awards ceremony for an essay contest celebrating the 50th anniversary of friendship between China and São Tomé and Príncipe, in an event aimed at highlighting the ties of friendship between the two countries and encouraging writing as a means of bringing them closer together and strengthening bilateral relations.
Ten participants were honored, divided into first, second, and third place categories, as well as a quality award.
The president of the São Tomé and Príncipe-China Parliamentary Friendship Group, Edmilson Amoço, winner of the first prize, said he felt “deeply proud” and took the opportunity to highlight inequalities in access to education.
The Chinese Ambassador to São Tomé and Príncipe, Xu Yingzhen, highlighted the cultural significance of the initiative, stating that “exchanges at all levels and in all areas are intensifying, and the friendship between our peoples is becoming even deeper.”
