On May 13, a memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation between the countries in artificial intelligence (AI) was signed by the Brazil Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC) as the Brazilian representative and the National Development and Reform Commission of China on China's side.
According to the document, intergovernmental dialogues are expected on building high-quality data sets, tackling security risks and exchanging experiences in applications and platforms, including joint efforts in training large language and multimodal models.
The MDIC also signed a letter of intent for cooperation and investment in the digital economy. In this case, the Chinese counterpart is the country's Ministry of Commerce. The aim of the letter is to encourage cooperation between companies from the two countries, including the active participation of Chinese companies in projects under Brazil's new industrial policy, "actively promoting digitalization, network connectivity and the intelligent transformation and modernization of traditional infrastructure".
