East Timor's Foreign Minister visits China

East Timor's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bendito Freitas, traveled to China on April 2 for an official visit with the aim of strengthening cooperation and diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Timorese government said.


During the visit, which will last until Friday, Bendito Freitas will meet with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, to discuss important issues of mutual interest.


According to the government, the subjects under discussion will include the visit of Timorese President José Ramos-Horta to China, Chinese support for East Timor's accession to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), cooperation with the member countries of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries and the air services agreement between the two countries.


The cooperation plan within the scope of the "Belt and Road" will also be discussed by the two ministers.
