Chinese soybean imports from Brazil rose 9.2% in June compared to the previous year, according to data from the General Administration of Customs of China. China imported 10.62 million metric tons of oilseed from Brazil last month, or 86.6% of total imports, compared with 9.72 million tons in the same period last year, according to the data.

China’s soybean imports reached their highest level ever in June, at 12.26 million metric tons. “The year-on-year increase in June imports mainly reflects a lag from April caused by slow customs clearance, while growth from January to June is driven by Brazil’s large 2024/25 soybean crop,” said an agricultural researcher at Guoyuan Futures.

From January to June, Chinese imports from Brazil totaled 31.86 million tons. Soybean arrivals in China are likely to remain high in the third quarter, traders and analysts said.
