The modernisation of forensic laboratories in Africa increases the capacity of law enforcement authorities to effectively investigate crimes, gather crucial evidence and guarantee justice and security across the continent.

With this in mind, the Chinese government has supported the process of modernising and equipping the digital forensics laboratory in Mozambique, to strengthen the country's ability to gather crucial evidence for criminal investigations and court cases.

According to We Are Tech Africa, the laboratory was inaugurated last week at a ceremony attended by Mozambican and Chinese government officials.

According to Interior Minister Pascoal Ronda, the infrastructure is part of the efforts to modernise the National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC), which will provide police authorities with specialised tools to combat technologically facilitated crimes, strengthening the capacity to collect evidence and improving public safety.
