Trade between China, Portuguese-speaking Countries tops US$161.515 bln in January-September 2023

Trade in merchandise between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$161.515 billion in the period from January to September 2023. It represented a 2.96 percent decrease year-on-year, according to data from China Customs. Portuguese-speaking Countries sold goods worth US$106.338 billion to China in the first nine months of 2023 – a decrease of 1.76 percent year-on-year. The value of China’s merchandise exports to those countries reached US$55.177 billion in the same period, down 5.18 percent year-on-year.


The total value of merchandise traded in September between the parties topped US$19.714 billion, an increase of 0.64 percent from the prior-year period.The value of China’s merchandise imports from Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$13.355 billion, up 6.89 percent year-to-year, according to Chinese official data. China sold goods to those countries worth US$6.359 billion in September, an increase of 10.37 percent compared with the previous year.
