Cape Verde made its debut in the ranking and was in 16th position among 28 countries, gaining 45 points out of 100, in the African Financial Markets Index, produced by the Official Forum of Monetary and Financial Institutions (OMFIF), in partnership with the financial group Absa, announced the Cape Verde Stock Exchange (BVC). Among the three Portuguese-speaking countries listed, Cape Verde is followed by Angola in 20th place (three less than in 2022) and Mozambique in 24th place (two less than last year).

“Our objective is, in the short term, to be in the ‘top 10’, and in the medium term to reach the ‘top 5’”, said Miguel Monteiro, president of BVC.

Of the six pillars under evaluation, the archipelago achieved its best results in access to the foreign exchange market (7th among the 28) and in the capacity of local investors (10th place).

According to Miguel Monteiro, this reflects efficiency and accessibility in facilitating international transactions and the commitment to promoting domestic investment.
