The award ceremony for the 18th Special Book Award of China took place on June 17 in Beijing, honoring 16 specialists from 12 countries for their efforts in promoting Chinese culture, thought, and image abroad. The Brazilian sinologist and translator based in Macau, Giorgio Sinedino, was one of the 16 specialists awarded the 18th Special Book Award of China for his outstanding contribution to the promotion of Chinese culture in the Portuguese-speaking world, strengthening cultural ties between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.

Over the years, the Brazilian scholar has developed remarkable work translating and interpreting classical Chinese texts, including the annotated editions of “The Analects,” “Dao De Jing by Laozi,” and “The Immortal of Southern China – A Cultural Reading of Zhuangzi,” published in Brazil since 2012.

Expanding his field to modern literature, Giorgio Sinedino is preparing the release of his latest work: “The Cry of Lu Xun – dramatized translation and critical studies,” which will be published at the end of June by Editora 34 in Brazil. The translator expressed confidence that the book's new proposal will help revitalize interest in contemporary Chinese literature among Portuguese-speaking readers.
