The Government of Goiás signed an agreement with a Chinese delegation to create a Mining Cutting, Testing, and Trials Laboratory in the state. The facility will focus on training young cutting technicians and researchers and promoting teacher exchanges between the countries.

The agreement was signed during a meeting between the secretary of industry, commerce, and services and the director of the Brazilian Institute of Gems, Testing, and Trials (IBGET). The meeting was also attended by other authorities in the field, such as the Sino-Brazilian Mining Association (ASBM) and the Hainan Emeralds Group.

Goiás had already signed a memorandum of understanding between the State University of Goiás (UEG) and Huaqiao University in May 2023 for educational cooperation between the two higher education institutions. UEG will be one of the entities responsible for managing and supporting the construction of the laboratory through the work of researchers and professors.
