At the invitation of the Dalian Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, the University of Évora (UÉ) took part in the 34th Dalian Acacia Flower Festival, held in Dalian, China. The delegation included Ana Telles, Vice-Rector for Culture and Community, and members of the FOCUS Saxophone Quartet—a student ensemble from the university's Department of Music. On May 17, the quartet performed at the festival's opening ceremony before thousands of attendees.
During the "Sino-Portuguese Exchange Day", the delegation was warmly received. As part of their visit, institutional connections were established with the World Music and Culture Museum and the Dalian Urban Music Center. At the former, Vice-Rector Telles gave a demonstration of historical instruments and met with the museum's founder to discuss future collaborations.
The delegation also engaged in cultural and academic activities, including exchanges with local artists, joint performances, and student interactions. This visit was seen as a valuable educational and pre-professional opportunity for the students of the University of Évora's School of Arts, further strengthening cultural and academic ties between Portugal and China.
