Brazilian battery maker Moura aims to electrify buses

In partnership with the Chinese Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd. (CATL), Pernambuco battery manufacturer Moura supplies lithium battery systems and their components for the new 100% electric trucks of Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus (VWCO).

Moura has already delivered over 240 sets that were assembled at its factory in Belo Jardim and finished in a cell at the Volkswagen Caminhes unit in Rezende. The project evolved from the 11-ton E-Delivery truck to a 14-ton model.

The battery manufacturer has bigger plans: it aims at the urban bus market, which should be a trend in the main Brazilian cities.

The battery uses Lithium, Iron and Phosphate (LFP) chemistry, which offers a longer lifespan and higher energy density, as well as ample capacity to support deep cycles (full recharges after complete discharges).
