Authorities continue to value Macau’s connection with Portugal, says Durão Barroso

The former Portuguese prime minister, Durão Barroso, carried out a private visit to Macau on the 21st of February and had lunch with the Chief Executive, Ho Iat Seng.

In statements to TDM-Canal Macau on the sidelines of the visit, Durão Barroso noted the willingness of the Macau authorities to continue to value highly the particularity of the territory due to its link with Portugal.

“Maintaining this particularity is very important for Macau and also for Portugal. It is a historical memory. In addition to that memory, I hope there will be concrete opportunities from an economic point of view,” he said.
